The Will Writing Company launches Government e-Petition calling for all legal services, including will-writing, to have one independent regulator.
The Will Writing Company is supporting the call by the Legal Services Board Consumer Panel to introduce an independent body to regulate all Legal Services, including Will writing, which has the interest of consumers at heart.
Iain Cameron, Legal Director of the Will Writing Company, has launched an e-petition, registered online with the HM Government. He said;
“We (The Will Writing Company) were disappointed when the Lord Chancellor decided there was no point in bringing will-writing into the regulatory regime, at least until regulation became effective. I have launched an e-petition online in support of the new proposals and we will be making submissions to the Ministry of Justice to bring about a level playing field whereby anyone offering will-writing services to English the public will have to be properly trained and qualified and adhere to a strong Code of Practice; to such as the Institute of Professional Willwriters’ code which is approved by the Trading Standards Institute. The more people sign the petition the regulate bigger the impetus for change.”
If the e-petition gets at least 100,000 signatures, it will be considered for debate in the House of Commons.
