    2017: New Partnerships

    2016: Regulation and company growth

    • We launched our Probate and Estate Administration Department.

    • In June 2016, The Will Writing Company became authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) as a licensed body in England and Wales. To read more about this, click here.

    • In December 2016 we launched our partnership with Vernon Building Society throughout their 6 branches, giving us a fantastic foothold in the North West of England.

    2015: Listed as 'key-player' within the estate planning industry

    • In November 2015, Estate Planning Group was listed as a 'key-player' in the UK's Wills & Probate Industry by IRN Research.

    • We expanded our teams across all departments to reach more than 100 staff by the end of the year.

    2014: A busy year

    • We appeared on television as part of a 12-part documentary series on planning for retirement. Our episode focussed on the importance of writing a Will and Lasting Power of Attorney. You can view it here.

    • Chief Executive of Estate Planning Group, Tom Gormanly, was elected Chairman of the Institute of Professional Willwriters (IPW). At the same time, he was also elected to his third three-year term on the IPW Council.

    • We partnered with The Melton Building Society to support their members throughout the East Midlands.

    • We announced Dementia UK as our Charity of the Year and will be donating a percentage of our pre-tax profits.

    • The Telephone Will Service was launched to complement our existing face to face services.

    • In order to support our growing business, to reduce costs, speed up delivery, and to give us a great competitive advantage, we have significantly invested in WEMS (Wills and Estate Management System). The Offline Client (OLC) has completely replaced the paper instruction forms our consultants used, meaning that all client instructions are submitted on a computer, laptop, or tablet via a secure server.

    2013: Relocation and Rebranding

    • The Group moved to new offices at Ruddington Business Park, Nottingham.

    • We started partnerships with Saffron Building Society across their network of 12 branches, The Hanley Economic Building Society throughout their 7 branches in North Staffordshire, and Cambridge Building Society across their 18 branches in Cambridgeshire.

    • We carried out extensive rebranding activities which included new logos and guidelines for The Estate Planning Group (Holdings) Ltd and all of its subsidiaries.

    • Towards the end of 2013 we partnered with Dudley Building Society.

    2012: The Estate Planning Group (Holdings) Ltd formally launched

    • We established and formally launched The Estate Planning Group (Holdings) Ltd (EPG) as part of an ongoing development process, and to reflect the fact that we no longer only deal with Wills.

    2010: Family Trust Corporation and Care Fee Advice Bureau began

    • The Will Writing Company was granted permission to set up The Family Trust Corporation (TFTC) to bring trust and estate administration in-house.

    • We founded the Care Fee Advice Bureau, our online information and advice portal regarding care fees.

    • We became partners with The Nottingham Building Society across all 35 branches, and with Wren Sterling (formerly Towergate Financial), one of Europe’s largest independent financial advice companies.

    2007: Moving to Scotland

    • We started trading in Scotland, adapting to Scottish law.

    2007: More Partnerships

    • We became partners with Newcastle Building Society across 31 UK branches, and TaxAssist, a national network of accountants.

    • We were accepted on Openwork’s panel of approved estate planners. Openwork is the UK’s largest multi-tie mortgage and financial advice network comprising of more than 2,000 financial advisers.

    2004: Leeds Building Society

    2001: Nationwide Probate Founded

    1998: The Will Writing Company became incorporated as The Will Writing Company Limited

    1997: Expansion and growth

    • The Will Writing Company expanded its marketing activities and moved into Nottingham city centre premises. We employed a further 40 staff, and installed state-of-the-art computer technology.

    • Our turnover increased by 1,000% over the next 12months and 500% the following year.

    • We created deedBANK Document Storage Limited to provide clients with a storage facility for important documents, such as Wills, Lasting Power of Attorney, deeds, and other essential paperwork.

    1991: The Will Writing Company became a founding member of the Institute of Professional Willwriters

    • The Institute of Professional Willwriters was established as an independent self-regulatory body to promote the Will writing industry and provide an examination body to ensure quality throughout. The Will Writing Company has more IPW members than any other legal services company in the UK.

    1990: The Will Writing Company was founded
